Dissecting the cow eye. It has become her friend. . .

A&P class studies eyes

Eye dissection, vision tests, and much more!

by Sara Walsh

January 29, 2007

The Anatomy and Physiology class began to study the general senses last week.  Student groups have created Power Point presentation in order to teach the other students their topic.  Along with these presentations, the students have been completing many labs.  So far in our vision section, students have dissected cow eyes (yes, there really is ‘eye jelly’) and have completed many vision tests.

Do you see what I see??

They have tested their visual acuteness, near point accommodation, blind spot, dominant eye, and pupillary reflexes to name a few.

More vision tests--can you touch the pencil??

On February 7th, the class will travel to Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA to view the cadaver.  Students will receive a hands-on learning experience unmatched by any other.  Stay tuned for more!
