The Niobrara Valley Conference
choir concert was one of the best ever! Students from the
schools in the east half of the conference performed together five
selections. The schools involved were: Elgin Public, Pope
John, Clearwater, Orchard, Wheeler Central, Ewing, Verdigre,
Niobrara and Santee.
Six of the schools also
performed a special song featuring a vocal group from their school
at the concert. Elgin Public performed "Seasons of Love" from
the musical "Rent" as our special performance. The teachers
even came up with a crowd pleaser - "Mountain Music". The
feature of the night was the clinicians. They are an a
capella singing group of men from UNL called "Rocktavo".
Michael Tully and Zack Bjornsen were the directors for the
conference event while other members gave great singing
advice. They concluded the concert with a 20 minute
performance of their own.
The event was hosted by Pope John
at the St. Boniface gym this year - we were excited to
have this concert in our hometown! We had a wonderful
and appreciative audience and the concert was everything they
expected and so much more. "Rocktavo" was fantastic and
enjoyed by all!!
