School Secretary

I started working at Elgin Public School in 1992 as a Title 1 Teacher's Aide. In 2001, I began my duties as school secretary.

My secretarial duties are varied from day-to-day. I answer the phone, sort the mail, and assist those who come to the office. I handle all activities accounts (FFA, FCCLA, sports, class accounts, etc.), including sorting and counting all money to be deposited and writing all checks for those accounts. I do all purchasing and sort and distribute packages as they arrive.

In order to help parents and the community keep informed of upcoming events, I post all announcements on the marquee sign and the calendar on the website page. I also publish a monthly newsletter that is sent out to 753 patrons. Annually I publish a brag brochure that is sent out to 1252 households. When attending school events, concerts, or sports games you have probably seen programs designed by me.

I grew up in Moville, IA and graduated from Woodbury Central High School in the bicentennial year. I married Bryan Jensen, the manager of CVA Lumber & Hardware in Elgin. We have 3 children, Anthony, Aaron, & Sarah, all graduates of Elgin Public School. They have all earned their bachelor's degree from UNL. Anthony is presently an Ag teacher at Freeman High School in Adams, NE and Aaron is a State Farm Insurance account representative in Lincoln, NE. Sarah is employed by the marketing department of the Lincoln Journal Star newspaper. I enjoy camping, fishing, quilting, being with family, and playing on my computer. I also enjoy visiting with friends around my firepit.

My role as secretary is a very challenging one. It is my hope that students, parents, and patrons who call or come to Elgin Public School have a pleasant experience. My challenge is to be a positive aspect of those experiences.
