Communication in Speech Class

Our Experiment With Pantomimes...

Bethany Kallhoff

January 31, 2009

The speech class is speechless...literally.  The personal communications class with Mrs. Shoe-Henn has started off the semester testing out their expertise in verbal and non-verbal communication.  Last week we experimented with pantomimes to get a better understanding of non-verbal communication.  We were split into small groups and given a scenario to act out without any kind of verbal communication at all. The rest of the class was challenged to figure out what was going on during our skit based only on our pantomime skills.  The groups were successful in getting the point of their skits across without any verbal communication...minus a few giggles.  The pantomime skits were a fun way to demonstrate how hard non-verbal communication really is!
