Volleyball...
What does it really take to get ready for a season or even a game?
Starting with conditioning for a week and moving on to two-a-days the week following. Waking up early, running, doing drill after drill, over and over again. Then start off with going just once a day for two hours. The amount of hours we put in a week just to be successful.
From day one, we have always been looked down upon because we only have nine girls. After our opening night of games, we surprised a lot of people though. We started off with a win and played a very competitive game against Chambers. We then began to get looked at. We may be a tiny team, but we have enough talent for a team of twenty. With having five girls that have never played in a varsity volleyball game before, we know that we have to work hard to accomplish our goals.
Now practice after practice,we work on serve receive, serving, and defense, time and time again. We work to improve and work out any kinks that we have. As a team should, we work very well together. Never is there fighting or bickering going on between us girls. We know that we have to stick together in order to win.
As of now, our record is three and five. But dynamite comes in small packages and we are about to explode. We have a lot of talent and we all have the same goal, making it to state.
As Coach Thiele-Blecher says, "Offense sells tickets, but defense wins CHAMPIONSHIPS!"
