I joined the staff at Elgin Public School in June of 2009 as the
bookkeeper. My duties as bookkeeper include, but are not limited
to: payroll/benefits processing, paying general fund and special
fund bills, federal and state reporting, and lunch
scanning/billing.
I was born and raised in Wheeler County in the village of Bartlett.
I am the youngest of four children to my parents Melvin and Pauline
Marker. My father is the eldest son of 17 and my mother the only
daughter of 2. My father was raised in Bartlett and my mother was
raised in Raeville, so you could say I landed in the middle. My
mother is the business manager at Wheeler Central High School, so
we work closely together and I consider this a great asset.
My husband Eric Beckman and I have made our home in Elgin. I am a
2001 graduate of Wheeler Central High School, after high school I
attended Joseph’s College of Beauty in Hastings. Eric is a 2002
graduate of Elgin Public School and could see living and making our
home no other place than Elgin, Nebraska and pursuing trucking with
his father Paul and brother Chris. We have two children, Jeslynn
and Taylor. Jeslynn attends school here at Elgin Public School and
Taylor keeps his grandma Connie Beckman entertained throughout the
day. Prior to coming to Elgin Public School I worked in Bartlett at
Cornerstone Bank and Insurance Group, where I worked as a customer
service rep and insurance agent.
In my unscheduled time I like to play dress up, paint nails, play
with tractors and super heroes, watch movies and either play or
watch all kinds of sports. Our family also spends quite a bit of
time camping and working around in the yard. I enjoy my position as
bookkeeper and look forward to what the future holds here at Elgin
Public School.
My motto: It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
